unexpected excitement
So, fun little interjection into my life...
I got to take an ambulance ride to the hospital yesterday morning. It seems I lost conciousness and quit breating for a short time.
You see, I spent Friday at the local public pool and only put sunscreen on at the beginning of my four and a half hour day of fun. When the fun was done I found myself severely sunburnt. I knew I would require special care, so I drank alot of water and used a special burn salve we get locally. I thought I was being a perfect self nurse.
I woke up Saturday morning (the day I was suppose to have my unlimited amount of motivation due to impending deadline of party at my house that evening) and I was seriously ill. After a few moments of nausea I found my way to the bathroom. I sat on the floor between the toilet and tub and moaned in agony. I glanced at the toilet (it hadn't been cleaned yet for the party that night) and decided I didn't want to lay my head down there, eww. So I settled for the edge of the tub, which wasn't much cleaner. I laid my head down, softly said my husband's name, and closed my eyes......this is the last thing I remember.
A few minutes later I awoke to my husband standing over me with the phone in his hand. The next few minutes is a total blur. At some point my husband said I had quit breathing and was crumpled in the corner, he had called for an ambulance which was on it's way to our house. He is an EMT on the local fire/ambulance department and within a short time my little bathroom was filled to capacity with nearly all the EMT's on the department.
After a short ride to the hospital, a liter of fluid, some IV steroids, and some heavy duty pain killers I felt quite a lot better. Evidently I thought my fluid intake had been adequate, but it wasn't. Needless to say, my day of endless motivation was yet again stopped short. The house did get cleaned thanks to my darling husband, and the party went off without a hitch, again thanks to my husband. All the while I sat on the couch still in pain (lessened by the extreme pain killers) and observed the fun.
Lesson to the wise, one application of sunscreen is never adequate!
